And where better to enjoy that cozy ambiance than at Glenwood Springs’ historic Hotel Colorado, where General Manager Larry MacDonald and his team are gearing up for the winter holidays. “We really embrace the holidays at Hotel Colorado. From mid-October through January 10, we go all out on the food, excitement, customs, and comforts of the season to make the hotel a must-do destination for holiday revelers,” said David Storm, president of Providence Hospitality Partners, Hotel Colorado’s management company.

Highlight of the season will be the Annual Spirit of the Season from 7 to 9 pm on November 23. “We have more than 200,000 lights on the building and common areas, and themed decorations honoring the birth of Jesus, children, The Message of The Polar Express Story, Colorado Winter,” MacDonald said, “and Santa honors us with his first public appearance of the season at the Hotel Colorado lighting ceremony.” The ceremony will also feature seasonal music, with national recording artist and sax player Brian Savage; local duet Michelle and Kelli, the Gabossi Sisters; and vocalist Jon Chandler.

The hotel’s non-stop seasonal celebration includes extended culinary offerings in Baron’s dining room, where Executive Chef Ron Jackson has developed a fall menu giving traditional foods contemporary flair, taking full advantage of fall harvest produce. The lowly pumpkin has never had it so good, with offerings of pumpkin soup, pumpkin bread, even pumpkin crème brûlée. Guests can dine on hearty entrées like oxtail soup, roast pheasant or goose, hare and rhubarb pie, Yorkshire pudding, and of course turkey and beef, saving a little room for a slice of warm mince pie.

Starting Sunday, October 28, the 12 pm - 3 pm Sunday brunch will be expanded to include comfort foods that “will take you back to Sunday dinner at Grandma’s,” MacDonald said. And on Thanksgiving day, November 22, holidaymakers can partake of a groaning-board menu featuring ham, turkey, or beef with a cornucopia of accompanying appetizers and side dishes.

.With all the activities available throughout the season, Hotel Colorado is the perfect venue for a relaxing weekend getaway and great dining. Holiday packages are available starting at $269
