Glenwood Springs is a town brimming with Olympic history and spirit. In anticipation of the 2024 Summer Games, Hotel Colorado is ready to cheer on the American team and embrace French-style joie de vivre regarding dining, drinking, and relaxing.

Glenwood’s Olympic Legacy

Did you know that Glenwood Springs has a special connection to the Olympics? Our town proudly welcomed the Olympic torch in 2002 as it traveled to the Winter Games in Salt Lake City. Over 1,000 people turned out to see Olympic swimmer George DiCarlo backstroke holding the touch above water in the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool. Wrestling gold medalist Rulon Gardner also took a turn carrying the torch, jogging through town to the applause of bystanders.

But that’s not all! Glenwood Springs is home to two remarkable Olympic cyclists: Jeanne Golay and Bobby Julich. Golay, a three-time Olympian, brought glory to Glenwood Springs with her incredible performances. Over on Red Mountain, the trail she used for training is named after her. Julich is another local hero. He competed in the 1996 Olympics and later achieved super-status with a podium finish in the Tour de France.

Savor French Flavors in Glenwood Springs

Ah, la cuisine française! The French are perhaps best known for their exquisite cuisine. As you explore town, indulge in the delightful flavors of France right here in Glenwood Springs. Whether you’re a fan of croissants, crepes, or coq au vin, discover a taste of France at many of our local restaurants, bakeries, and coffee shops.

  • Legends Coffee and Gift Shop in the lobby of Hotel Colorado showcases homemade pastries made fresh daily. Why not grab a café au lait and croissant before heading out for the day?
  • You’ll also find French-inspired fare on the Hotel Colorado Restaurant and Bar breakfast menu including Eggs Benedict, French Toast, and a Parfait of yogurt, berries, and granola.

But the French culinary experience doesn’t stop there.

  • Stop in Cooper Wine & Spirits for wine, champagne, and spirits direct from the Old World.
  • In addition to Colorado Restaurant and Bar at Hotel Colorado, Riviera Scratch Kitchen, Juicy Lucy’s, and CO Ranch House offer menu items with French flair.
