Hotel Colorado to Reimagine Holiday Festivities in 2020

Glenwood Springs, CO (Sept. 22nd, 2020) – This Thanksgiving season, Hotel Colorado gives special thanks to the community for their support during this difficult year with the COVID-19 pandemic and devastating fires. Hotel Colorado’s commitment to its guests and local visitor’s health and safety is always top priority, therefore the hotel will need to cancel this year’s Lighting Ceremony normally occurring the Friday after Thanksgiving. All associated events including the Christmas in the Rockies Craft Fair, fireworks, live performances and photos with Santa will also need to be postponed until next year.
The good news is that the hotel is still decorating for the holidays creating a festive environment as it has for over 30 years, including the illumination of thousands of Christmas lights. The lights will stay up during the holiday season, illuminating the grounds of the hotel in hundreds of bright colors. The hotel will continue to display its well-known holiday décor including over 50 decorated Christmas trees throughout the halls and lobby.  In replacement of the Thanksgiving buffet, Hotel Colorado will offer Thanksgiving meal to-go options and convenient plated options for in-house guests.
The hotel understands that its guests along with many Roaring Fork Valley residents look forward to the Lighting Ceremony as well as its other annual traditions. Hotel Colorado will continue the tradition of displaying holiday spirit in the midst of 2020 and plans to resume the traditional and popular Lighting Ceremony next year.
“Hotel Colorado will do everything it can to make the holiday season special for its guests and locals alike,” said Christian Henny, General Manager. “We feel it’s important to carry on the holiday traditions for our guests and the Glenwood Springs community and encourage everyone to come see the traditional Christmas decorations.”
