It’s easier to say, “I do,” with Hotel Colorado’s new certified wedding planner
If inspiring mountain views, beautifully renovated banquet and guest rooms, indoor and outdoor options for ceremonies and delectable cuisine weren’t enough reasons to plan a wedding at Hotel Colorado in Glenwood Springs, the “Grand Dame of the Rockies” has added an onsite certified wedding planner to its events team.
GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (March 15, 2024) — Choosing a venue for their dream wedding is just one of the many decisions a couple must make when planning their big day. Hotel Colorado, dubbed the “Grand Dame of the Rockies,” has just made it easier for them to say, “I do,” with the addition of an onsite certified wedding planner to its event team. Located in scenic Glenwood Springs, Colorado, the hotel has been helping couples celebrate this milestone for generations. Alta Otto, who has been with Hotel Colorado as Social Market Sales Manager for about a year, recently completed the Wedding MBA (Merchants Business Academy) certification program. This included education on event planning, vendor management, best practices and industry trends to create exceptional wedding experiences.
“With this added training, I can help design and orchestrate a wedding from the beginning. This includes helping couples draw up a budget and create a custom package that fits their needs, find and hire vendors from our preferred list, structure and set a timetable for the ceremony and reception, and oversee everything on the wedding day,” Alta Otto, Wedding and Event Planner for Hotel Colorado, explained.
Otto is a local, through and through, born and raised in the Roaring Fork Valley. Her expertise is orchestrating and overseeing logistics for expansive music festivals and community events, notably contributing to the success of the well-known Carbondale Mountain Fair. She added, “My passion lies in connecting with brides, understanding their dream weddings, and offering innovative ideas to transform their special day into something truly extraordinary.”
Hotel Colorado offers a full range of event and catering services and six well-appointed banquet rooms to provide the perfect setting for groups from 15 to 250. During the warmer months, the courtyard provides an idyllic spot with a colorful cottage garden, mature landscaping and a bubbling fountain with mountains as the backdrop.
“Hotel Colorado is a favorite venue for locals and as a destination for couples from around the globe. We finished an $8 million, floor-to-ceiling renovation on our 130 guest rooms last year, which means there’s room for the wedding party and guests. The newlyweds can enjoy chocolate-dipped strawberries and champagne at their bedside and awe-inspiring views from windows or private balconies,” Larry MacDonald, Hotel Colorado General Manager, said.
Hotel amenities include dining and cocktails at the Hotel Colorado Restaurant and Bar and barista-made coffee drinks, teas, freshly baked pastries, souvenirs and necessities at Legends Coffee and Gift Shop. Dogs are welcomed, so guests can bring their four-legged family members along.
MacDonald added, “The world-famous Glenwood Hot Springs is just steps away from our front door, and most of the city’s attractions are within walking distance. The charming downtown district is just short walk across the pedestrian bridge over the Colorado River with lots of restaurants, shops, entertainment—such as an escape room and vaudeville show—and galleries. This is a year-round outdoor recreation mecca, so hiking and biking, skiing and boarding, fishing and whitewater rafting options abound. These are just some of the reasons Hotel Colorado is a great place for a destination wedding.”
